The NYC Summer Internship Program is currently accepting applications from college undergraduate and graduate students. The summer program runs from May through September 2010. Although there are no uniform beginning and ending dates for all internships, the maximum time for any given position is 13 weeks. Students must be willing to relocate or commute to New York City to participate in the summer program.
Eligibility Requirements for the NYC Summer Internship Program
Students must be currently enrolled in college to be eligible for an internship. Graduate interns, however, may apply if they have been accepted into a graduate program. All interested individuals must apply directly to the advertising agency for each position posted.
Applicants should review the job specs thoroughly before applying to a particular program. Some internships are paid positions while others are unpaid, volunteer positions. Others offer academic credit only. For more information, direct questions to the contact person in the advertising agency.

Apply Now for Top Consideration
Criminal justice majors should apply now for top consideration. Although there are no standard cut-off dates for applications, the summer program kicks off in May. Postings are updated on a continuous basis, so interested individuals should check job announcements weekly.
There is no main processing center for internship applications. Therefore, applicants are required to submit a cover letter and resume to the contact person in the advertising agency. Applicants should address all questions to the agency contact listed in the job posting.
Benefits of Criminal Justice Internships
Internships provide a bridge from college to career by providing a learning opportunity that expands beyond the four walls of classroom learning. Students who participate in internships learn valuable on-the-job skills, as well as strengthen their knowledge in their major field of study. Because criminal justice internships provide a real-world lens into the current working environment in a given profession, students get a realistic view of the day-to-day workings of their chosen careers.
Students who participate in internships are also able to network with other individuals who can enhance their career options post graduation. Students who perform well may be hired for a full-time position after they earn their college degrees.
